Mini Mono SP Contact Microphone

The Mini Mono SP is a contact microphone designed for use with instruments, devices, and setups that feature a mini 1/8” jack (3.5 mm). It operates the same way as our other plug-in contact mics (such as the Plug Ugly) - all that is required is a 1/8” cable and one’s imagination!

The Mini Mono is terminated to a 3.5 cm brass piezo (roughly the size of a US quarter). A thick blob of silicone adheres the 1/8” jack to the microphone element, ensuring a snug and rugged fit. Last, a coat of rubber heat shrink provides a final layer of protection.

Mini Mono can straddle countless applications: from amplifying objects, using with cassette recorders, or adding an external contact mic to Eurorack systems. Keep in mind that this mic lives up to its namesake and is in fact, monophonic.

Check out this brief demo. In the video, our brave Test Dept. Lad utilizes the Mini Mono SP via fuzzy Eurorack gloop, with headachey scrapes conjured on a kinda busted fiddle. That’s how we do it here, heh heh.

In the following video, Test Dept. Lad combines the Mini Mono SP with his Button Downy; both devices are jammed through a Koma Field Kit running control voltage to a Michael Rucci Maximal Drone synth.
