Bump Up Preamp

The Bump Up is a low voltage preamp powered by 2 AA batteries. While it won't bring microphones up to line level, we found that the Bump Up brightens the sonic temperaments for a number of our devices, in particular the Town & Mouth Report, Magnet Opus, and pretty much all of our contact microphones. And what could be better? Rather than max out the gain on a mixer or recorder, the Bump Up allows one to introduce more oomph at a lower volume. This in turn, as our audio specialists tell us, creates more headroom and other bewitching terminology that we've been informed are good things.

We have found that the Bump Up prevails in all sorts of audio climates, from mischievous studio no-input mayhem (as depicted in the video and audio examples below) to adding clarity without pushing our equipment to the brink.

Here's our Classic Contact Mic and Magnet Opus rattling around in the silverware drawer. Both devices are using their own Bump Ups, the hooligans!
