6Pinch Piezotransducer Multi-Gator Gripping Device
The 6Pinch is a hybrid of sorts. We weren't actually certain which category to place it under here in the shop, as it's part device, contact mic, instrument, and so forth. All that is to say, the 6Pinch features six alligator clips soldered onto an "altoids" style tin. Inside is a piezo element terminated to a quarter inch or eighth inch jack, mounted with some silicone (which helps provide acoustical deadening as well as some ballast, so it stays put).
The 6Pinch is designed for the electro-acoustic sound designer. The clips can affix to all sorts of miscellany - junk, utensils, hardware or thrift store finds, stuff hanging around in the garden shed or basement - you name it. Springs, garden rake tines, screws, tape measures, slinkies, saw blades, chopsticks, spools of twine or fishing line, rubber bands, tree branches, leaves... what might be construed as seemingly innocuous flotsam can transform the 6Pinch into a percussive device, foley sound laboratory, or soundtrack instrument. The 6Pinch pairs well with FX, reverb, and can be a wonderful addition to a modular setup. It sounds pretty wonderful without effects too!
The 6Pinch comes in two tin finishes. The current finish (summer 2o24) is black, not silver like the older models.
Here's a quick video featuring the 6Pinch having a bit of a spat with our go-to bag of kitchen sink objects:
In the following video, Test Dept Lad runs the 6Pinch into a simple modular sampler setup, modifying the sample size by squeezing our Wedgie contact mic. Dig it.
The 6Pinch ships within 1-2 upon receiving payment - thanks for your patience! International friends, get in touch!
Oh, and cable not included.
