Classic Noir Contact Microphone
The Classic Noir Contact Mic is a variation of our original flagship contact microphone. It features a sturdy 3.5 centimeter piezo, which is mounted to black standard-issue guitar cable. The microphone can be terminated with the following: 1/4 inch plug, mono or TRS 3.5mm plug, or XLR plug. The Noir edition also has a hefty glob of protective silicone around the piezo element, topped off with an additional layer of heat shrink, giving it that extra reenforcement without sacrificing tone. The cable length is 5 feet (nose to tail).
The Classic Noir is a plug-and-play device. Simply plugging it into a guitar amp or recorder can reveal a myriad of sounds from the most unlikely sources: kitchen utensils, chainmail armor, esophageal noises, acoustic instruments, wood flooring, bicycle spokes, ventilator systems, door hinges, and of course, cat purrs. It also sounds fabulous with FX and processing, and is a splendid go-to microphone for recording ambient audio ecologies as well as a burly buddy for bombastic noise performances.
Input styles and variations are listed below. Keep in mind that the TRS option is basically "double mono", and not true stereo.
